Located in Brienzwiler, in the Canton of Berne, the
Open-Air Museum Ballenberg takes you into a world of local
crafts, daily life in the countryside and rural architecture. Over
100 ancient farmhouses, representing different periods (16th to
19th century) as well as distinct Swiss regions, were moved here
and then truthfully rebuilt. Admire the country’s many different
building methods and architectural traditions. The site also
boasts heritage gardens and fields as well as native farm animals,
several of which are endangered species. The site, inaugurated in
1978, covers a surface of 660’000 m². It is open from April to
October.
