Linz, the capital of Upper Austria, is situated in the North of
Austria at the bank of the Danube.
The hotel Kolping is
centrally located between the railway station, the old town and near
the pedestrian area.
By car :
Coming from the motorway A1 (Salzburg/Vienna) and from the
North (Freistadt/ Czechia) join the motorway A7 then take the
exit no 6 Linz-Hummelhof, Zentrum. Continue on the
Waldeggstrasse and turn right on the Stockhofstrasse (at the
6th traffic light). After about 500 m from the traffic light, turn
right into the Auerspergstrasse and after 150m to the left into
the Gesellenhausstrasse.
The hotel Kolping is situated approximately at 100 m to your right.
By train or public transport :
The main train station of Linz (Hauptbahnhof) is an important
railway
junction. It is served by all the trains coming from Salzburg
(Munich) and Vienna. Important lines going to the North
(Freistadt/Czech Republic) and to the South Selzthal/Graz beginning
also in Linz.
From the station we recommend to take one of the three tramway lines
direction University or Bergbahnhof.
Get down at the 2nd stop (Bürgerstrasse) then go straight into the
opposite Langgasse and turn to the left into the
Gesellenhausstrasse.
The hotel Kolping is situated immediately to your left.
By plane :
The “Blue Danube Airport” of Linz is situated at Hörsching, in the
South-West of the city. It is a local airport served by Austrian
Airlines (Düsseldorf, Salzburg, Vienna), Lufthansa (Frankfurt) as
well as by low cost companies such as Ryanair (London-Stanstead),
Niki (Palma de Mallorca) and recently TUIfly (Cologne).
You can take the shuttle bus (2.30 euro) until the stop
Volksgartenstrasse then continue straight ahead until the building
of
the Donauversicherung, turn slightly to the right and you will
arrive
at the Gesellenhausstrasse.
Alternatively, the free shuttle bus will take you to the station of
Hörsching; then you can take the train to Linz (about 11 min.)
The 20-min.-drive by taxi costs about 25 euro.
The airport of Salzburg is at approximately 140 km and the one of
Vienna- Schwechat approximately
210 km of distance.
